Are you tired of popping pills to calm your burning stomach? Have you been to too many doctors who just say the same thing over and over and never give you any real solutions to why you can’t eat without suffering the pain of heartburn?
You are tired of being told to just live with it. There must be a better way.
Acid reflux is one of the most common reasons that people go to a doctor. It’s estimated that about 20% of adult men and women suffer from this condition. Unfortunately, many children also do.
In conventional medicine, there is not an approach to go deeper into the root cause. So they may just be recommending that you take medication or and endoscopy where they put a little tube down your esophagus to look at the lining of your GI tract.
There’s never really any advice given in lifestyle factors like what you’re eating, or the stress in your life, you’re just simply told to take the little purple pill – and that really just doesn’t make any sense.
Acid reflux occurs when the contents of your stomach actually come back into the lower part of the oesophagus. And this acid, of course, is very toxic and causes that burning sensation. And if it goes on over a long period of time can actually cause scarring.
Finding the cause of this acid reflux is very important. And that’s what we do in functional medicine. We want to find the root cause why this is happening, then we need to take an approach to look at you as a whole person having inflammation anywhere in the body, but especially in the GI tract can mean that there may be inflammation throughout the whole biological system.
