Neural therapy is a specialized process that facilitates the brain to heal itself. It is a combination of neurostimulation and neurofeedback.
Neurostimulation involves different ways to help the brain function more optimally:
Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS)
Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS)
Transcranial Random Noise Stimulation (tRNS)
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (pEMF)
Neurofeedback is a method of delivering a reward, either visually or auditorily, by feedback. This method of neural therapy trains the brain after neurostimulation has opened up the neural pathways. Combining the two is much more effective than neurofeedback alone and is the best method we have found to facilitate dynamic changes in the electroencephalogram (EEG) and alleviate symptoms of brain dysfunction.
At Healing Unleashed all new patients are first evaluated by Dr. Wanda Bedinghaus, our medical director, to assess overall health. Appropriate functional medicine labs are often done to ascertain how well the person’s basic physiology is functioning. Diet is extremely important, and an elimination diet is encouraged for all new patients. After testing is completed and labs reviewed, supplementation with vitamins, mineral and other important co-factors will be recommended.
A 19 Channel Digital EEG is performed and analyzed using special software, NeuroGuide, to create quantitative EEG (QEEG) brain maps. From these maps, we create an individualized neural therapy program to correct any areas of imbalance. This involves frequent sessions, at least once/week and more as time permits until we begin to see changes in the EEG and the patient reports improvement in their symptoms.
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (pEMF) involves placing special coils on the head for brain entrainment and coherence. This is very gentle stimulation and causes no perceptible discomfort for the patient. The coils can be placed anywhere in the body to help tissues heal. Indications for using pEMF on the body include pain and inflammation.
All of these methods of healing are safe and gentle. We are pleased to use this equipment that was created by renowned neuroscientist, Dr. Nicholas Dogris, PhD. We frequently consult with him for complicated patients.
