Health is really our nature state. It isn’t something to be gained, but a state of being to be realized. Most of us have not yet attained an experience of our full and true innate wholeness because of:
• our beliefs about our mind, body and spirit
• our attitudes held about life
• how we choose the life styles that we embrace
• polluted, toxic environments where, unfortunately, we often find ourselves living
Health is an inner state of wellbeing, free from dis-eases that seem to escalate everyday. This list of diseases has expanded beyond belief, especially in the last few decades. Disease is NOT natural even though it occurs in astronomical numbers in our human family. As a physician my goal and purpose is to lift the consciousness of those who come to me for healing to the realization of the phenomenal capacity of the body to always heal itself if and as it is given the vital support needed by how we live. That means we really do have a choice about the state of our health.
According to the World Health Organization, “Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”
Dr. James Tyler Kent, a renowned homeopath in the 19th century translated Dr. Samuel Hahnemann’s Aphorism 9 (from the Organon of the Medical Art), this way:
“In the healthy condition of man, the spiritual vital force, the dynamics that animates the material body, rules with unbounded sway, and retains all the parts of the organism in admirable, harmonious, vital operation, as regards both sensations and functions, so that our indwelling, reason-gifted mind can freely employ this living healthy instrument for the higher purposes of our existence.”
From “Lectures on Homeopathic Philosophy” pg. 76
When I first read this, I knew I had found in the discipline of homeopathy, a scientific system of healing that really could stimulate the innate healing capacity of the body. My mission in my healing work is to help people restore their natural health so they can be fully alive and fulfill their life’s purpose. It is my greatest joy to see my patients move farther along that path towards total wellness.
Health is more than just health of the body. When we consider the whole dimension of life, it also means health in our relationships, in our community/society, health in our finances. But, the concept of health really does begin within us. We must have a mindset of health/wholeness, an uncompromising belief in the vitality of our true spiritual self. Health includes our spiritual life as the foundation upon which everything else flows forth from.
